Before we know it Christmas 2026 is going to be here, which gives you a few weeks to get something sorted for your dad. If your dad spends his weekends rubbing brisket, kneading dough or working through a stack of cookbooks, aftershave or socks is not going to cut it.
I've been running Dad What Cooks since 2019, and these are the 32 gifts I'd genuinely want to receive or would happily buy for a friend or family member who loves cooking. Some are practical, some are novelty and a couple are a real splurge. I've grouped them by budget and by the type of cook your dad is, so you can skip straight to the section that fits.
Quick note on delivery: most of the Amazon things you see are next day for Prime members. If there are Etsy products or personalised things, these can take a little while longer so keep that in mind.

Quick Picks: Christmas Dad Gifts At A Glance
Best Under £20
Pestle and Mortar

For the dad who enjoys making his own marinades, spice blends or pastes, a pestle and mortar is one of those bits of kit that gets used far more than you'd expect. A good one should have proper weight to it (granite or heavy stone) and be big enough to grind one-handed without the bowl sliding around. I use mine for everything from cracking peppercorns to grinding garlic for homemade garlic herb butter. Best for: dads who cook from scratch. Around £15 to £40 on Amazon UK.
Spice Rack

A well-organised spice rack is an ideal gift for a dad who likes to have his ingredients within easy reach. Choose one that’s stylish and functional to keep his kitchen looking neat. A good sized spice rack can be mounted on the back of a cupboard or pantry door for easy access or as a space saving option.
Kitchen Gadgets

Inject some fun into his cooking routine with a kitchen gadget like an egg slicer or pizza cutter. You can even get novelty egg slicers shaped like chickens or pizza cutters like bikes. Above is my egg slicer and I absolutely use this all the time and not just on eggs - mushrooms, pepper etc. These small but useful gifts are bound to be a welcome and practical gift.
Wine Aerator
For the dad who loves a glass of wine with his meal, a wine aerator is a great gift. It enhances the flavour of wine by aerating it as it’s poured, ensuring every glass tastes its best.
Mandolin Slicer
A mandoline slicer is perfect for dads who love precision in their cooking. It allows for even slicing of vegetables and fruits, making prep work quick and easy.
Best Under £50
Knife Sharpener

This is one of my best purchases off Amazon. The roller knife sharpener is amazing for getting a clean sharp blade on my knives. The Novara one was the market leader but I thought they were a bit expensive for what it was. After reading lots of reviews I settled on this rolling knife sharpener and it was a game changer for me. He'll keep his knives in top condition and with a sharp blade, it makes all the difference in the kitchen. A good sharpener will ensure he can prep ingredients with ease.
Electric Salt and Pepper Grinders

Upgrade his seasoning game with electric salt and pepper grinders. These convenient tools allow for effortless seasoning with just the push of a button. Mine are from Pro Cook but there are plenty of other options online.
Custom Chopping Board

A personalised chopping board is not only practical but also a thoughtful gift. You can have his name or a funny kitchen quote engraved, making it a one-of-a-kind item that he’ll treasure for years. Mine is absolutely battered (see the pic above) but it is well loved and used all the time.
Custom Knife
A personalised chef's knife sits in the "sentimental but actually useful" category. Look for a forged carbon or high-carbon stainless blade rather than a stamped one, the difference in feel is significant. Pair it with a knife sharpener (item 9) so it stays sharp. Best for: dads who do most of the prep at home. Around £30 to £80 for a quality engraved option on Amazon UK. Buy one online and then take to an engravers to have it customised.
Panini Press
Help him make delicious toasted sandwiches with a panini press. It’s a simple yet effective gadget for creating crispy, golden sandwiches filled with his favourite ingredients.
Gourmet Sauces

I received these sauces as a gift set one year for Fathers Dayu and I used them a lot. These were particularly spicy. I'd recommend a set of gourmet sauces as a gift. There are loads of types from BBQ to hot sauce and you can find plenty of unique flavours on Amazon UK.
Best Under £100
Digital Kitchen Scales

An accurate set of scales is a must for any keen baker. My scales have seen better days and I am looking for a new set. My next purchase are going to be the OXO Good Grip 5Kg and will be purchasing these soon!
Digital Meat Thermometer

The single most useful upgrade for any BBQ dad, and the cheapest way to genuinely improve his cooking. I use a wireless probe model when I'm running smoked gammon or 3-2-1 ribs on the Weber Master Touch, because I can keep an eye on temperature without standing next to the BBQ.
Pictured above is my InkBird thermometer. This model is no longer available but there is a replacement model which is even more robust (and mine has taken a battering since I bought it in 2021). Look for one with a Bluetooth or wireless probe rather than the basic instant-read kind. Best for: BBQ dads and roast dinner perfectionists. Around £20 to £80 on Amazon UK.
Food Processor
A decent food processor saves an enormous amount of prep time. I use a small Kenwood chopper day to day, but for a Father's Day gift, something with a bowl big enough to knead dough and grate cheese is worth the extra. My food mixer buying guide covers what to look for.
Best for: dads who batch cook or bake. Around £20 to £150 on Amazon UK depending on size and power. This little Kenwood chopper is a small and compact version - one which I use myself and have great success with.
Sous Vide Machine
Sous vide cooks meat in a temperature-controlled water bath, usually in a vacuum-sealed bag. The result is steak that's exactly the doneness you want, edge to edge, with no overcooked grey band. It used to be restaurant-only kit, but compact home versions like the Anova or Lakeland's own brand sit in a drawer when not in use. InkBird are doing a version now too and I really rate the quality of their equipment. Worth it if your dad takes steak seriously or wants to try a new technique. Best for: gadget-loving dads who already have the basics. Around £100 on Amazon UK.
Splurge Gifts (£100+)
Coffee Machine

If your dad is a coffee lover as well as a cooking enthusiast, a high-quality coffee machine could be the perfect gift. Mine above is a Cuisinart Auto Grind and Filter 12 cup. It takes pride of place on the counter and is used every day. I only drink filter coffee, but whether he enjoys a quick espresso or a leisurely latte, there’s a machine to suit his style.
Ninja Air Fryer

If your dad doesn't already own one, this is the gift that will get the most use. I run a Ninja Foodi 15-in-1 and it gets used four or five times a week, from air fryer chips to bacon to whole roast chicken. For Father's Day, the dual-zone models are worth the extra spend because he can cook chips and chicken at the same time without one going cold. Best for: dads who like quick, fuss-free meals. Roughly £100 to £200 on Amazon UK depending on size.
Cast Iron Dutch Oven
I bought a cast iron Dutch oven last year and it's now the pan I reach for most often. It does no-knead sourdough, charcoal sourdough on the BBQ, stews, big-batch chilli and even braised meat. Look for a 4 to 6-litre size with a flat lid (handy as a frying surface). Le Creuset sits at the top end, Lodge offers excellent value.
Best for: bakers and slow cooker fans. Around £40 to £150 on Amazon UK. I got one of these last year and I use it on the BBQ and also for sourdough bread.
For The BBQ Dad
Pizza Stone
A pizza stone gives you the crispy base that's almost impossible to achieve on a regular baking tray. I've written a full comparison of the best BBQ pizza stones and a guide to choosing a pizza oven if your dad's more serious about it. For a starter gift, a basic ceramic or cordierite stone is fine. Best for: dads who already make homemade pizza or want to start. Around £20 to £50 on Amazon UK.
Personalised BBQ Tools
Most supermarket BBQ tool sets are flimsy stamped metal that bend the first time you lift a brisket. A personalised set in proper stainless steel with a wooden handle will last years. Pair with a copy of my BBQ basics guide or charcoal BBQ 101 if he's newer to grilling. Best for: BBQ dads and dads who've just got their first grill. Around £25 to £60 on Amazon UK or Etsy for engraved options.
Cast Iron Skillet
I use a cast iron skillet for homemade burgers, steak and finishing meat off the BBQ. It's one of the few pieces of kit that genuinely gets better with age. Works on gas, induction and over coals, so if your dad has a Weber or similar, he can use it on the BBQ too. Look for a 10 to 12-inch pre-seasoned pan from Lodge or similar. Best for: any cooking dad. Around £30 to £60 on Amazon UK.
Indoor Herb Garden Kit
For the dad who loves fresh ingredients, an indoor herb garden kit is a great gift. He can grow his own herbs, ensuring he always has fresh basil, thyme, or parsley to add to his dishes.
For The Sourdough Baker
Sourdough Starter Kits

If your dad has been talking about getting into sourdough but hasn't started, a starter kit removes the hardest part: building a culture from scratch. The Kensington 150-year-old San Francisco starter is one I've tested and rated. For more options at this price point, see my sourdough gifts under £20 round-up.
Best for: aspiring bread bakers. Around £10 to £25 on Amazon UK or direct from specialist suppliers.
Stainless Steel Mixing Bowls
Upgrade his kitchen essentials with a set of stainless steel mixing bowls. They’re durable, easy to clean, and perfect for everything from mixing ingredients to serving salads.
Recipe Book Stand
A recipe book stand is a thoughtful gift for the dad who loves following recipes. It keeps cookbooks or tablets at the perfect viewing angle, making it easier to cook along with instructions.
Personalised Wooden Spoon
A personalised wooden spoon is a simple but thoughtful gift for a cooking dad. Engrave it with his name or a quirky message, and it’ll be a charming addition to his kitchen.
Novelty & Stocking Fillers
Custom Apron

I got a customised apron from me and for Mrs DadWhatCooks so we have matching in the kitchen! Add some fun to his cooking sessions with a custom apron. You can add a favourite quote or personalise it with his name or something else. It’s sure to bring a smile to his face every time he’s in the kitchen.
Personalised Chef's Hat
Add some humour to his kitchen attire with a personalised chef’s hat. It’s a fun gift that’ll make him feel like the master of his kitchen. I'd recommend not spending lots of money on these as they will get used once and then forgotten. A nice token gift if nothing else.
Novelty Kitchen Signs
Add a little personality to his cooking space with novelty kitchen signs. From quirky quotes to food-themed artwork, these signs can make his kitchen feel more personal and fun.
Waffle Maker
A waffle maker is the perfect gift for dads who have a sweet tooth. Whether he likes them sweet or savoury, he can create delicious waffles in no time. Don’t forget about a waffle recipe book to accompany the gift!
Cooking Class Voucher
Treat him to a new culinary experience with a cooking class voucher. Many companies now offer virtual or in-person cooking classes, so he can learn new skills and try out different cuisines.
Beer and Food Pairing Book
If your dad enjoys pairing his food with the perfect beer, a beer and food pairing book is a great gift. He can discover new combinations and elevate his meals with expertly paired beverages.
Egg Peeler
The most pointless of the kitchen gadgets that everyone should have. This egg peeler will make peeling hard boiled eggs much easier and quicker. Along with peeling eggs, they also crack eggs and pierce them ready for boiling too.
Whether your dad is a gadget-loving foodie or a traditional cook, these 30 gifts for dads that like to cook are a great gift for them pops who have it all. I know when I try to get my dad a present he's really difficult to buy for so hopefully some of these items can give you some inspiration.
Dad Christmas Gift FAQs
The best gifts are the ones that match how he actually cooks. A BBQ dad will get more out of a digital meat thermometer or a smoker accessory than a sous vide machine. A sourdough baker will appreciate a starter kit, a banneton or a good set of kitchen scales. If you genuinely don't know what he uses, a personalised wooden spoon or chopping board, a quality cast iron skillet, or a gourmet hot sauce gift set all work for almost any home cook.
A digital meat thermometer is the single most useful upgrade for any BBQ dad, and they start at around £20. If your budget stretches further, a set of personalised BBQ tools, a cast iron skillet for direct grilling, or a quality charcoal chimney starter all get heavy use. Avoid generic BBQ tool sets from supermarkets, the metal tends to be flimsy.
There's no right answer, but most gift guides split fairly evenly between sub-£20 stocking-filler items, mid-range £20 to £100 items that get daily use, and £100+ splurges for bigger occasions. The most appreciated gifts in my experience are the mid-range practical items he wouldn't buy for himself.
Consumables and experiences. Gourmet sauces, a high-end olive oil, a smoked salt set, a BBQ rub subscription, or a cooking class voucher all sidestep the "he already owns it" problem. Personalised items also work because they're unique to him.
For Amazon UK Prime items, order by 22nd December at the latest. For personalised or engraved items from Etsy or independent UK sellers, order by the first week of December to allow for production and shipping. Bigger items like air fryers or coffee machines are worth ordering at least two weeks in advance in case of delivery issues.
