⏲️ Air Fryer Cooking Times
My trick is to knock 20% of the cooking time from what it says on the box. So for example, if your bake says to cook at 200C for 20 minutes, then in the air fryer cook it for 16 minutes.

With the steak bake, the recommended cooking time is 26 to 28 minutes in the oven. Therefore using our 20% rule, the cooking time in the Ninja Air Fryer is (rounding up) 21 to 23 minutes.
Of course you should always use your brain when working these out and ensure that the Greggs Steak Bake in the Ninja Air Fryer is piping hot before you go to eat it. The centre of the steak bake should be piping hot and you should be able to see the steam.

Have you got on board with the Air Fryer craze yet? You can always take a look on Amazon for the Ninja Foodi air fryer range and get yourself a deal. Other brands are also available and can be picked up from around the £100 to £150 mark.

💭 Isn't cooking a steak bake in the air fryer cheating?
While I love to cook, we all need some time off every now and then. I like a take away but also like my quick and easy meals. As an avid food enthusiast, I must say that Greggs' Steak Bake is an absolute delight! The succulent chunks of tender steak, encased in perfectly flaky pastry, create a heavenly combination that is simply irresistible. Each bite offers a burst of rich and savoury flavours that are guaranteed to satisfy even the most discerning taste buds.
What should we be eating this with?
Well I think there are plenty of options to serve a steak bake alongside. If you want to keep some balance in your diet then I'd suggest doing some Ninja Foodi Steamed Rice which would work well.
Then there is always just a basic loaf of bread or a naan bread which could be placed on the side of the plate.
For a little more variety, take a look at some of these BBQ sides which will be great for dipping the steak bake into (other than some ketchup!)
Tips for preparing the perfect steak bake in an air fryer
Preparing the perfect steak bake in an air fryer requires a bit of finesse, but with the right techniques, you can easily master this culinary feat. Here are some invaluable tips to help you achieve the ultimate steak bake in your air fryer:
- Preheat your air fryer: Before adding the steak bake to the air fryer, make sure to preheat the appliance to the appropriate temperature, typically around 200°C (400°F). This will ensure that the pastry crisps up quickly and the steak cooks evenly.
- Brush with egg wash: For a beautiful golden-brown finish, brush the top of the steak bake with a beaten egg or egg wash. This will help to create a shiny, crisp crust.
- Cook in batches: Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook the steak bakes in batches to ensure even cooking. Avoid overcrowding the basket, as this can affect the air circulation and result in uneven cooking.
- Monitor the cooking time: Keep a close eye on the steak bake as it cooks in the air fryer. Adjust the cooking time as needed, depending on if cooking from frozen or chilled.
By using these pointers then creating the perfect steak bake in your air fryer is really easy. It will have a crisp, golden pastry crust and a tender, juicy steak filling.

Thomas
Sorry for the silly question but 20 mins without the preheat time or 20 mins with?
Cheers.-
Dad What Cooks
Hi Thomas,No problem, I appreciate the question. It’s 20 minutes once at temperature so recommend you pre heat for about 5 minutes beforehand.
Keep an eye on it after 15 mins though as it can vary depending on air fryer model.I’ll update the post in due course to reflect this.
Thanks
Martin.
