Equipment

Ingredients

  • 4 Eggs
  • 4 slices Bread
  • 1 Salt & Pepper To taste

Instructions

  • Prep your instant pot/air fryer with 1 cup of water (200ml)
  • Place 4 eggs in the wire rack and lower them in to the water. If using the air fryer, place them on the grill rack.
  • Make sure the lid is set to "Sealing" and close the list. Switch on the instant pot and pressure cook as per the manual for 5 minutes.
If using the air fryer, switch the vent round to seal. Make sure to use Low pressure mode (it will default to High so make sure to change it from this).
Instant Pot Boiled Eggs timer set
  • While this is cooking, put your bread in the toaster.
  • Once the timer is done, release the pressure then remove the lid - being careful of the steam. To stop the eggs cooking further, you can place them in cold water for 1 minute.

  • Serve up with the toast - cut into soldiers of course. Season according to your taste and enjoy.

Notes

Top tips for serving this dish:
  • Use fresh homemade bread for the toast. See my bread recipes for more information.
  • Season the toast before cutting into strips for a more even salt and pepper distribution.
Air Fryer Preheating tip - before putting Pressure Cook mode on, preheat the air fryer in normal "air fry mode" to build up some heat. Doing this before going into pressure cooker mode and putting in the water will allow it to build pressure and get to temperature much quicker. Also, use warm water to help get the steam and pressure up to the right level quickly.
When using pressure - make sure to use Low - if you go above this, the eggs may crack.
